The island was active in the 1600’s when Spain was enslaving and killing the local Indians. The ruins of the walls showed where the slaves were kept. Owned by the state of Florida and only one Park Ranger had clearance to actually be on the island. He was also into our drumming group. The woman who sponsored me had a great New Age store in Isla Morada, close by. She arranged for this event. We drummed late into the star filled night then walked through the mangroves and felt the Indian spirits. Very intensely unsettling but still good energy.
