This is where the magic reappeared in my life.

This is where the magic reappeared in my life.

excerpt: “History of the Groove”

Magic has always been associated with drumming. That was no doubt part of the reason that drumming was outlawed in Europe around two hundred A.D. until recently. The Roman Catholic view of the world did not include drum shamans, drum prietesses or ecstatic dancing. I was sitting in Cathy’s store on Montana Avenue, somewhat shell shocked by the earthquake that had just occurred, also by my rejection of the whole entertainment industry self identity. I was telling her about driving Brenda Vacaro’s red Bronco across the country to meet a man who had worked with my father, then on into Manhattan. I had slept in that red bronco and it had been my method of finding out about my father.

“You mean that red bronco that’s sitting out back?” Cathy said with a small grin. I went out and looked. It was the same Bronco. it belonged to Brenda’s boyfriend who had just opened an adjacent clothing store.  “Looks like you’re where you’re supposed to be.” she said when I came back in, dumbfounded. This is where the magic reappeared in my life.
